and use many times

If you use the same information in many places, write once and link.

• You can link on a small scale:

  A few documents linking to information chunks common to all.

• You can link on a large scale:

  Throughout your company--linking documents to the same information chunks.

If you publish information that is similar but uses different formats, write once and use tools to change the format.

• You can transform documents on a small scale:

  Use conditional text to publish online help, html pages, and PDF from the same set of files.

• You can transform documents on a large scale:

  Set up automated systems to publish in many formats from a set of source files.
